Women outpace men in higher education
A higher proportion of women complete university or post-secondary education, with a gap of approximately 10 percentage points compared to men. Of 502,351 graduates in 2023, 53% were female.

There is a gender gap of nearly 8 percentage points between women and men in employment. Of 7.7 million employed civilians, 3.5 million are women — concentrated in public admin, trade, and HORECA.

The gender pay gap persists across the full professional lifecycle. It reaches its widest point among 35–44 year-olds, where the gap reaches €90 compared to the overall average, before gradually narrowing.

Highly active on social media
86% of women use social networks and 84% make voice or video calls online. Women represent 51% of all internet users in Romania — a digitally engaged audience that brands cannot afford to generalise.
